Website visitor tracking vs. website visitor identification.
Most “website visitor tracking software” tells you what a visitor did. Website visitor identification software tells you who the visitor actually is, so you can do something about it.
Visitor Tracking
What did the visitor do?
Traditional website visitor tracking tools focus on behavior analytics: pages viewed, time on site, scroll depth, click maps, session recordings.
- Pages viewed, time on site, bounce rate
- Click maps, scroll depth, heatmaps
- Session recordings and replays
- Anonymous: you see the session, not the person
Visitor Identification
Who is the website visitor?
Website visitor identification software resolves anonymous sessions to real people with verified names, emails, household addresses, and demographic data before a form fill is submitted.
- Name, email, household address per visitor
- Income, age, gender, and up to 100+ B2C attributes
- Audiences you can push to Meta, Klaviyo, TikTok, CTV
- Identified: you see the person behind the session
Why Untitled does both
One tag. Full session tracking + identity resolution on every visitor.
The Untitled ID Tag captures the full website session (the tracking part) and resolves it to a real person against 300M+ U.S. people-based records (the identification part). You get website visitor analytics and the identity behind every session, without bolting together two tools, two contracts, and two sources of truth.
How Untitled compares to other visitor identification tools
Person-level visitor identification has a handful of serious players. Here is how the most-compared tools stack up on the dimensions that decide whether the data is actually usable for paid media, email, and CTV — not just sales prospecting.
| Tool | Resolves to | Real-time | Audience activation | B2C support |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Untitled ID Tag | Real people (B2B + B2C) | Yes | Meta, Google, TikTok, CTV, email, mail | Yes |
| OpenSend | Real people (DTC shoppers) | Yes | Email, SMS, postal only | DTC only |
| Retention.com | Real people (US shoppers) | Yes | Email + SMS only | Ecommerce only |
| RB2B | Real people (B2B, US only) | Yes | Slack / CRM alerts | No (B2B only) |
| Lead Forensics | Company / IP only | Yes | CSV export | No |
| Leadfeeder | Company / IP only | Delayed | CSV export | No |
| Hotjar / Microsoft Clarity | Anonymous behavior only | Yes | None | No |
Comparison based on publicly available product information and vendor documentation, May 2026. "Real people" means individual contact-level resolution (name, email, profile) rather than company- or IP-level resolution only. THE BEST SOLUTION TO YOUR PROBLEM
Other tools rely on outdated data capture.
Not us.
Other solutions use one primary attribute to identify website visitors: the IP Address. The Untitled ID tag looks at a multitude of attributes of website visitors, including HEMs, mobile advertising IDs, device IDs and more. Using our identity graph, we comb through the largest data co-op in the USA, with over 300+ million people-based records. When we resolve a visitor, we serve that back to you.
We’ve built the most sophisticated identity resolution system in the market.

Frequently Asked Questions.
Everything buyers ask before installing the Untitled ID Tag, including how it works, what it identifies, and how it stays compliant.
Website visitor identification matches anonymous visitors to known profiles in an identity graph using non-PII signals collected when they land on your site — hashed emails, device IDs, mobile advertising IDs, and IP signals.
The Untitled ID Tag fires the moment a page loads, captures these signals from the visitor's browser and session, then matches them deterministically against our Identity Graph of 300+ million U.S. person-level records. Resolved visitors come back with attributes like name, email, household address, age range, income, and up to 100 other B2C or B2B fields.
Resolutions are delivered to your Untitled account hourly, so you can act on them inside the same business day.
Google Analytics tells you what anonymous visitors did on your site — pageviews, sessions, time on page, conversion paths. It does not tell you who those visitors are.
Untitled identifies the actual person behind each session: name, email, household address, demographic and firmographic attributes. You can then push those identified visitors into Meta, Klaviyo, TikTok, email, CTV, or direct mail as a real audience — something Google Analytics cannot do.
The two tools are complementary, not competing. Most customers run both: Analytics for behavior reporting, Untitled for identity and activation.
Yes, when implemented correctly. The Untitled ID Tag is built around a first-party and second-party data model — data originates from a direct interaction between a visitor and your website, not third-party tracking across the web.
Compliance depends on how you configure the tag inside your broader privacy framework. You should disclose data collection and marketing use cases in your privacy policy, use a consent management platform (CMP) so users can opt out, and honor opt-out signals. The Untitled ID Tag does not resolve EU visitors and excludes California residents who opt out via your CMP.
For a deeper walkthrough, see our Privacy and Consent Management guide.
Resolution rates vary by site, traffic mix, and consent setup, but most Untitled customers identify a meaningful share of U.S. desktop traffic within the first day of installation.
A visitor will not be resolved if any of the following are true:
Geography: Untitled resolves U.S.-based visitors only. Age: our data covers individuals 18 and older. Browser limitations: resolution is strongest on Chrome; other browsers may have lower match rates. Private browsing or VPNs: incognito mode, proxies, and VPNs obscure device signals and prevent matching. Insufficient signal: we only resolve high-confidence deterministic matches — if signals are weak or conflicting, we will not return a profile.
Yes. Unlike B2B-only tools like RB2B or Lead Forensics, Untitled resolves both B2C consumers and B2B buyers from the same tag.
For ecommerce and DTC brands, this means identifying anonymous Shopify visitors, capturing email addresses without a form fill, suppressing existing customers from prospecting ads, and pushing visitor audiences into Klaviyo, Meta, and TikTok for retargeting. B2C resolutions include up to 100 attributes — name, email, household address, age range, income level, gender, and more.
For B2B teams, the same tag returns business email, company name, title, department, and firmographic data for individual buyers — not just IP-level company guesses.
Most visitor identification tools resolve based on a single signal — typically IP address — which identifies a company and then infers which employee might have visited. That creates distance between the data and the actual buyer.
Untitled uses email as the primary identity anchor and resolves the specific individual who visited your site, with both personal and company-level attributes tied directly to that person. Our Identity Graph is built on first- and third-party data partnerships and validated continuously using online signals (website activity, device interactions) and out-of-band data (email engagement, mobility data) to keep records accurate and self-correcting.
The underlying data is refreshed monthly and resolutions are delivered hourly.
The Untitled ID Tag installs in under an hour and starts returning resolved visitors within the same business day.
Installation is a single JavaScript snippet placed in your website's head, the same way you'd install Google Analytics or the Meta Pixel. The tag fires as soon as the page loads — there's no minimum session length, no form-fill requirement, and no waiting period before resolutions populate. Data appears in your Untitled account on hourly intervals.
The tag can also be scoped to specific pages or subdomains if you only want to resolve visitors in certain parts of your site.
Untitled pricing is based on Daily Unique Visitor Resolutions — the number of distinct visitors the ID Tag successfully resolves within a 24-hour period.
If a visitor accesses your site multiple times in one day, they count as one Daily Unique Visitor. If they visit on two separate days, that counts as two. Your billing tier is determined by aggregating resolved profiles over a one-month period.
