Welcome to our new quarterly series highlighting the eCommerce brands our team genuinely loves. At Untitled, we get to work with some of the most exciting eComm brands out there. But this time, we decided to flip the script:

What if we became the customer?

So we launched a new initiative: every team member gets $500 a year to purchase from brands they’re curious about, impressed by, or just plain obsessed with. The goal? Get hands-on with what makes these brands tick. What are they doing that creates delight? What earns them loyalty? What can other brands learn from their approach?

Part employee perk, part research exercise, and part marketing inspiration, this project is helping us fall deeper in love with eCommerce while bringing back real lessons to our client work.

How We Did It

To evaluate each brand, we built a shared scoring system that helped balance gut instinct with objective criteria. We wanted to capture not just what looked good on the surface, but what created real traction across brand, product, and marketing.

We scored each brand across three pillars, with detailed subcategories and specific line items under each. Every line was rated from 0 to 2:

  • 0 = not present
  • 1 = present but average
  • 2 = exceptional or differentiated

Here’s the full breakdown of what we looked for:

Brand

Unexpected Delight (Surprises)

  • Handwritten note or personalized message included
  • Free sample or bonus item included
  • Creative or unique packaging design
  • Playful brand voice or quirky details that surprise

Compelling Brand Storytelling

  • Clear and authentic brand origin story
  • Founder story or mission is visible and compelling
  • Values (sustainability, ethics, etc.) are prominent
  • Website or socials tell a consistent story
  • Emotional connection or resonance with the customer

Product

True Craftsmanship & Quality

  • High-quality materials and construction
  • Artisanal or handcrafted elements
  • Attention to detail in design
  • Product feels built to last
  • Packaging reflects premium craftsmanship

Distinct USP (Unique Selling Proposition)

  • Unique product function or design
  • Fills a clear market gap
  • Communicated clearly in 10 seconds or less
  • Solves a specific, meaningful customer problem

Marketing

Authentic Social Commerce & Influencer Integration

  • Active presence on TikTok, Instagram, or similar platforms
  • Consistent use of user-generated content (UGC)
  • Influencer partnerships feel aligned and trustworthy
  • Social posts drive real engagement (likes, comments, shares)

Store Experience

  • Product page layout is clean and easy to navigate
  • Includes video, 360°, or animated product demos
  • High-quality images with multiple views
  • Engaging visuals aid purchase decision

But more than the spreadsheet, it was the debate that made this fun. Our team sent screenshots of paid ads in the wild. We passed around unboxing photos. We argued (gently) about whether a product was actually solving a pain point.

These conversations helped us see patterns and those patterns helped us pick the brands that are winning right now.

What We Saw Across the Board

After lots of orders, unboxings, and group debates, a the patterns began to emerge. Certain brands made a strong first impression but faded more quickly. Others quietly surprised us with how every detail, from packaging to post-purchase emails, felt purposeful. And then a few hit the rare trifecta: brand, product, and marketing, all in sync.

Here’s what we learned from the best of the bunch:

  • The best-performing brands felt human. Fishwife nailed it with witty, self-aware copy. Ballerina Farm pulled us in with real behind-the-scenes storytelling. Faded Days stood out with a bold, personality-packed site experience. Each brand committed fully to what made it distinct, and that commitment came through at every touchpoint. They knew exactly who they were and leaned into it without hesitation.
  • Consistency was a superpower. Across web, packaging, and ads, the top scorers created a cohesive experience. The fonts matched the voice, which matched the PDP copy, which matched the follow-up emails. Ultimately, it felt trustworthy, like you can be guaranteed to know what to expect in every interaction.
  • Even mundane products became exciting with the right positioning. We never thought we’d be hyped about name-change kits or baby sleep sacks. But NewlyNamed and Woolino proved that even the driest categories can feel premium with the right design and messaging.
  • Influencer integration is evolving. The strongest brands aren’t just paying for placements, they’re building creator ecosystems. We saw examples of long-term partnerships, co-branded campaigns, and community-driven content outperforming traditional influencer shoutouts.

Across categories and price points, the brands we loved most weren’t necessarily the flashiest or the biggest. They were the most thoughtful. Every touchpoint felt considered. That’s what earned our attention and our repeat purchases.

Lessons From the Best eCommerce Brands In Q3 2025

This experiment wasn’t just about picking favorites. We were hunting for standout ideas: smart tactics, sharp choices, and moments worth highlighting to help ecomm brands level up. When we zoomed out, the lessons for eCommerce marketers and operators became clear: the eCommerce brands people rave about are the ones that build trust, evoke emotion, and sweat the details.

Based on the Untitled teams analysis, there are three takeaways on how to be a successful eCommerce brand:

  1. Audit your experience from end to end. We found major drop-offs in delight between great ads and underwhelming packaging, or vice versa. High-performing brands closed that gap.
  2. Invest in post-purchase as much as pre-purchase. Fishwife’s branded tins, Meat Church’s butcher paper packaging, and Woolino’s room thermometer all added unexpected value. These were thoughtful extras that created memorable moments – turning one-time purchases into stories worth sharing.
  3. Think like a media company, not just a product company. Homefield’s email list reads like a blog. Ballerina Farm’s Instagram feels like a docuseries. These brands are selling products by building worlds.

The best part? You don’t have to overhaul everything to start. Pick one customer touchpoint and elevate it, whether that’s your order confirmation email, your product details page (PDP) copy, or your influencer landing page. The brands that won this quarter weren’t perfect, they were just intentional.

eCommerce brands are converting customers on more than just Facebook and Google.
